Established in Victoria in 1925 as overseas branch of London’s Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA) is Australia’s longest-existing private research institute on politics and international relations. Its mission is to help Australians know, understand, and engage more in international affairs. It does this through an extremely active agenda, grounded in principles of political neutrality and open debate.
The AIIA Victoria holds more than 70 events each year. Key events include weekly lectures with a focus on major international issues, the International Careers Conference, and the annual Sir Zelman Cowen Oration dinner.
