An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Planning and Compliance Consultant to join our Environmental Approvals, Closure & Management (EAC&M) team based in Melbourne. The team delivers strategic advice, environmental impact assessments, approvals, compliance management and site relinquishment services to multiple sectors across Australia. In the diverse Melbourne office, you will work alongside local specialist teams, as well as the wider APAC team to deliver a complete environmental service to clients across a range of sectors. Alongside Melbourne, we will also consider candidates wishing to work from our Sydney or Newcastle Offices.
The successful applicant will have 2+ years’ experience in consulting, government or industry working to deliver environmental impact assessments and approvals.
The successful applicant will support senior project managers in the national team to deliver large multidisciplinary projects. Our team is increasingly exposed to a diverse array of industries, with opportunities in onshore wind farms, transmission/network, infrastructure, BESS & Solar Projects, sustainable waste recovery and management, and mining across the wider APAC region. You will be given the opportunity to manage your own projects and will receive ongoing mentoring from industry experts.
Responsibilities
As a member of EAC&M team, you will support delivery of a range of projects. You will be responsible for the following:
- Be an all-round key support person to large projects as well as take responsibility for your own projects.
- Work beside the rest of the Planning and Assessment Service Line partnering with Environmental Consultants, Urban Planners, GIS experts and Social Impact & Consultation Specialists across Australia; in the Melbourne office we also have other technical disciplines covering noise and vibration, air quality, contamination and remediation, ESG, Sustainability and more.
- Delivering the best possible outcome for clients with a focus on quality.
- Assist with preparing fee proposals and preparing high quality reports.
- Preparing environmental approvals documentation.
Our Victorian and New South Wales team is heavily involved in:
- Primary and Secondary approvals for Built Environment, Infrastructure, Mining, Essential Construction Materials, Power and more
- Licensing
- Management Plans / Systems
- Construction and Operational Management
- Audit and Compliance.
Experience
Along with a “One Team” mentality you will also possess the following skills:
- A professional qualification in environmental science, environmental planning, statutory planning, engineering or other relevant degree.
- 2+ years' experience at a professional level, ideally in consulting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental approval processes in Victoria and/ or New South Wales
- Experience with environmental effects assessments/ environmental impact assessment and approvals
- Environmental Licensing and approvals (e.g. through Vic EPA)
- Demonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables on competing timeframes.
- A clear, concise and professional writing style.
