Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Endocrinology Advanced Trainee to join the Endocrinology Department.Â

About the Role:
This role is for an Endocrinology Trainee (Accredited), as Inpatient Diabetes Registrar at Northern Health.  The role is part-time (0.5 Full Time Equivalent), fixed-term (12 months). It is accredited as Core Endocrinology Training (6 months) upon completion of the 12 month role. The role involves leading the inpatient diabetes team and attendance at diabetes and endocrinology clinics.

This inpatient diabetes registrar role is responsible for
- Leading the inpatient diabetes team which provides proactive consultations to patients with unstable diabetes admitted under other medical and surgical units.
- Providing comprehensive assessment and formulation of treatment plans for inpatients with diabetes during hospital stay and following discharge from hospital
- Participating in the on-call roster for the endocrinology unit
- Participating in the weekend ward rounds for the endocrinology unit
- Attendance at diabetes and endocrinology clinic, and diabetes post-discharge rapid-access clinics
- Participating in the endocrinology unitâs education, audit and administrative activities
- Participating in education of diabetes management to junior medical staff

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience and good working knowledge of inpatient diabetes care, endocrinology emergencies, ambulatory general endocrinology and diabetes consultations
- Proven ability to perform comprehensive assessment and holistic inpatient and ambulatory care treatment plans
- Demonstrated skills in leading a clinical team
- Participation in research and audit activities.
- Ability to work in a half-time role with an opportunity for optimizing work-life balance.
